Why this is the year Rich takes 1A!
After losing last year in the state championship, the Rich Rebels are poised to comeback this year led by preseason favorite for 1A POTY, Ridge Lundgren.
Last year was a breakout year for Ridge as a Junior. He helped lead the Rebels to a 20-3 record and 10-0 in conference. He’s a true floor general who can score from all over the court. He’s also a tough, physical defender and if he played in Davis, SL, or Utah county more people would take notice of his game. Last year he dropped averages of 15/6/4 and is a career 36% 3 point shooter heading into his senior year. His current ranking of 92 in the UHSAA class also puts him as the top ranked player in 1A in the state with Jason Hernandez from Green River a close 2nd (watch out for Green River this year as well!)
But Rich isn’t a one man show. Besides being extremely well coached by Coach Cornia, they also return sharpshooter, Carter Scott. The 6’1 guard shot nearly 50/40/90 splits (45/42/93 actuals) on his way to a career year with averaging 11/5 including a 31 point outburst against Big Piney on only 21 shot attempts.
The path won’t be easy for them after losing 5 seniors from last years team, so rising Seniors, Dylan Fonnesbeck, Jett Holmes, and Aiden Weston will all need to elevate their game this year.
Games to watch for Rich this year include:
1/17 - vs Manila
1/30 - at Tabiona
2/7 - vs Wendover
2/14 - at Tintic
