WAY too early 2025-26 Utah HS Power Rankings
Here are some WAY too early Power Rankings for the 25-26 season! A few things to note, I tried to go through the rosters and see what % of each teams points would be returning and assumed that nobody is transferring schools. Obviously players will change for various reasons but I’m not a psychic!
6A:
Expect the Davis Darts to be on top with a big jump from American Fork this upcoming year. While Davis loses top scorer and 6A tourney MVP, Coleman Atwater, they return a ton and traditionally develop kids in the the program. Expect another leap from JT Turley and Bode Sparrow.
Also, the team who played them the best in the tourney was American Fork and I expect a full year of Bryce Mella and Jax Clark together will help them challenge Davis but look out for the exceptional guard play of Karter Miller, Carlo Mulford, and Luke West who all return as well.
5a:
Do we expect Olympus to take a step back after a massive run to win the state title? Absolutely not. Gavin Lowe is in the running and might be the favorite for Mr. Basketball in the state and guys like Caden Jackson and Davian Lazarus are also going to get better.
Similarly, Highland and Timpview basically return everyone (Timpview will actually return everyone from this years team) so it was a toss up. Slight edge to Highland as they made the title game. Losing Anderton and Higby won’t be easy, but a full year of having Oberholtzer and Drisdom in the backcourt with Soren Reis (my most improved player this year) is going to help. Look out for Bode Dodge to step into some of Anderton’s production as well.
Orem always reloads and expect big years from Troy Kaufusi and Simeon Suguturaga. Kai Wesley and Will Rasmussen as well. Sprinville also brings back Sondrup, Hansen, and Swift Hall.
4a:
Missing from this list is the 2 teams who played in the state final (Payson and Green Canyon) and that’s because they were very senior heavy and I just don’t know who will step up but they will likely prove me wrong as both teams are very well coached.
Some big names do return in 4a and Jaxon McQuisten and Cooper Harris look ready to take Timpanogos to the next level. Makai Allen and Provo will be better and Coach Beh has a few key pieces coming back.
Look out for Judge Memorial, Hurricane, and Sky View though. Judge brings back AJ Peek and Aymen Ismail who both played big roles the last 2 years. According to MaxPreps.com, Brigham Kemp will be a senior next year (Des News disagrees) and that kid is as good as anyone in 4a and Sky View brings back their 2 leading scorers in Macade Rolle and Zachary Oxborrow
3a:
There should be no surprise here as Morgan looks to repeat and likely 3a player of the year, Bracken Saunders, returns for his senior year. Morgan is still loaded from this year championship run and expect a repeat next year.
Richfield does bring back some key players from this years state finals team and no one is bigger than Jorgen Southwick. He’ll be hungry to make another run at it.
American Heritage has had 2 disappointing early loses, but Mana Wintana is ready to challenge Bracken Saunders for the best player title.
Kanab is going to be defending their 2a state title and bring back Kyle Brown and Carson Visser for another run and repeat.
I’m writing this before the 1a state title game, but Rich will have an emotional year after the tragic loss of Senior Daniel Smith this year and will be looking to get back to the state title game. Ridge Lundren and Carter Scott will continue to improve and I fully expect them to take the title in their senior year.
