The Great Western Classic is starting TOMORROW!
Smell that in the air?!? Smells like basketball season
Can’t wait to get out and watch some basketball starting tomorrow. We’ve got teams traveling to Utah from all over the Western US and are sure to bring some eyes to local kids as well.
Let’s get to some local teams to watch (all the game schedules are available on the Exposure App, FYI):
You probably know the usual suspects when it comes to local teams, so here are some teams I’m interested in seeing that you may not have had on your radar:
ALA - Jakobe Ross is a young guard who just picked up an offer to Cal (congrats, young man!) and they also added big man, Cooper Crockett. I’m excited to see how this team is developing.
Hurricane - I’ve written about him already, but Brigham Kemp is a must-watch. He can score in a variety of ways, so I’m hoping to see how his game progressed through the summer.
Provo - Rumor has it that Timpview big man, Callen Tollestrup, transferred to Provo. That combo with him and Makai Allen could be a lethal two-man game!
Team Utah - I’ve heard this roster will have Isaiah Drisdom, Soren Ries, Deng Deng, Bracken Saunders, Jordan Oberholtzer, and more. What a fun team, and I’m glad they’ll be in the tournament! Trying to stream a game or two of theirs if I can.
Utah Prep - bringing three teams up for the event, and it’ll be my first time being able to watch a handful of players who have highlight reels... but I need the game tape! Love being in the gym to see the players.
Idaho Premier - I don’t know a lot of the Idaho players... but I do see Jelani Odjegba on their team, which means you should show up with your popcorn to see some highlights!
National Teams Worth Your Time 🍿
Local to Utah you have LCA and Wasatch Academy, who both reloaded this last year, highlighted by recent UConn commit, Junior County.
Non-Utah national schools include perennial powerhouses: Bella Vista Prep, Dream City Christian, Bishop Gorman (AirNado), Golden State Prep, PHH Prep, and Veritas. We also have Mode Prep, RM Sports Academy, Prolific Sports from Canada, and ABQ Prep.
Get out and support good basketball this weekend if you can. You’ll see some future pros on the court and likely a ton of college coaches around as well.
